Exceptional Children

Asheboro City Schools provides Exceptional Children services designed to meet the special needs of children with disabilities.  Our focus is on individualized, high quality instruction and support for each of our special needs students according to the federal, state and local mandates of the Individuals with Disabilities Educational Act and the regulations of the North Carolina Public School Law, Article 9.  Our district's caring and professional staff works with more than 500 students with disabilities ages 3 through 21, to provide a full continuum of services aligned to each child's unique needs.  The continuum of services provides each child with an appropriate and engaging learning environment matched to his or her current academic and behavioral abilities.  Our EC staff is committed to providing appropriate educational opportunities to all children with disabilities to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment and independent living.
